In order to best help you plan your wedding reception, I took it upon myself to add a section that will make the process as simplified and predictable as possible. You will find alot of websites out there that basically cut and paste from other websites and offer that as wedding advice. I wanted to put this in my own words based on my personal experiences. This way when we sit down to plan your event we won't have to recreate the wheel! I'm going to list the events in the order in which they occur and offer song choices for each event.
1. Grand entrance - This is where you will let the guests know that you have arrived and business is about to pick up. You want this song to be upbeat and up tempo. These are some songs that I would reccomend.
2. Toast - No music needed, just a microphone. This takes place after dinner.
3. Cut the Cake
There are one of two directions that you can take with cutting of the cake music. Some people would like for it to be a serious moment of romance. Others make it a fun festive event. I'd reccomend going festive simply because you're both going to wind up with icing on your face anyway. These are the most requested songs for cutting of the cake.
4. First Dance
It's hard for me to advise you on this one because it basically has to be a song that is relevant to you both. Just in case you're struggling with this one, these are the most requested first dance songs that I've received.
5. Father/Daughter dance
Fortunately, there are alot of songs out there written specifically for this event and these are the most commonly used.
6. Mother/Son
Probably the most difficult song to pick out of the evening. I think the music industry is waiting to give someone a million bucks for writing a song specifically for this dance. The good news is there are some great songs out there that fit the bill.
7. Bouquet Toss
This is where we want to get all the single ladies out to the dance floor to compete for the coveted bouquet. It doesn't take much but these are the songs that I normally use for this event.
8. Garter Toss
The way this works is I'll play a song to get the single guys to the dance floor. Once they're set, I switch to another "inspirational" song for the groom to actually remove the garter belt. First things first, let's get the single guys on the dance floor.
9. Party!!!
I will be including a list on this website of party music. At this point it's time to kick back, relax and enjoy the rest of your evening!
